We are referring to the Iroquois Creation Myth. It says that long before Earth was created there was an island floating in the sky, the home of the sky people. One sky woman gave birth to twins: Sapling and Flint. The first living beings that existed on Earth were water animals, according to the myth. The woman fell from the sky and two birds helped her to get to the water and the mud. The animals spread mud at the back of a big turtle until the land grew the size of North America.
