Orwell relates Winston and individuality through the diary that Winston keeps. This is very impactful because it shows that even helping the suppression of social individuality, Winston does not want to suppress his.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • Winston works for an authoritarian government, which suppresses individuality and makes people's freedom impossible.
  • In this society, even free thinking is monitored, which makes all people act the way the government wants.
  • Winston works for this government, but he feels bad about his lack of individuality and free thinking.
  • For this reason, he writes a diary where he expresses his thoughts and emotions, being someone individual and unique.

This diary is illegal and Winston knows it, writing it is a form of individuality and that is what encourages Winston to rebel against this system.

This question is related to the book "1984," written by George Orwell.

FinnZ [79.3K]
Mrs. Sowerby is loving towards her children and she spends a lot of time with them. They are poor, but they are happy. On the contrary, Mrs. Lennox is not interested in her child and she rarely spends time with her. She is rich and she goes out partying instead of being with her child. And she is rather unhappy.  Hope it helps! :) If you could vote my answer as the brainiest, that would be awesome! :)
