Solution:

Consider a Mixed fraction greater than 1, 1\frac{a}{b} where , b>a.

To represent it on the number line

1. Divide or mark b-1 points between 1 and 2.

2. So, if you have to mark , 1 \frac{a}{b}, start writing on number line as 1 \frac{1}{b}, 1 \frac{2}{b},1 \frac{3}{b},..and finally mark 1 \frac{a}{b}.

Now suppose you have to represent 1\frac{2}{5}=\frac{7}{5} on number line.

Following the procedure described above

1. Mark four points between 1 and 2.

2. The first point is 1\frac{1}{5} and second point is 1\frac{2}{5} . Last one is 1\frac{5}{5}=2 .

Now, Suppose the fraction is \frac{123}{15} and you have to write it in terms of mixed fraction

Use the Euclid Lemma to write it as mixed fraction

That is , a= b ×q +r, when natural number a is divided by b gives q as quotient and r as remainder,

123 = 15 × 8 + 3

\frac{123}{15}=\frac{15 \times 8+3}{15}=\frac{15 \times 8}{15}+\frac{3}{15}=8\frac{3}{15}

Consider the number \frac{27}{13}.

Since the numerator is greater than the denominator, this fraction is greater than 1.

Now, in the number line, find out how many 13's are there within 27.

The answer is 2.

Now, subtract 2 × 13 from 27.

27 - 26 = 1

Hence, the required mixed fraction is 2\frac{1}{13}

The combination shows that the different groups of three that can be chosen for a newspaper photo is 10.

<h3>How to calculate the value?</h3>

From the information, Joyce, Karen and Paula are starters on their school basketball team.

The information is to illustrate the different groups of three that can be chosen for a newspaper photo.

This will be:

= 5!/3!(5 - 3)!

= 5!/3!2!

= (5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1)/(3 × 2 × 2)

= 20/2

= 10

There will be 10 groups.

The volume V of an ice cream cone is given by V = 2 3 πR3 + 1 3 πR2h where R is the common radius of the spherical cap and the c
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

The change in volume is estimated to be 17.20 \rm{in^3}

Step-by-step explanation:

The linearization or linear approximation of a function f(x) is given by:

f(x_0+dx) \approx f(x_0) + df(x)|_{x_0} where df is the total differential of the function evaluated in the given point.

For the given function, the linearization is:

V(R_0+dR, h_0+dh) = V(R_0, h_0) + \frac{\partial V(R_0, h_0)}{\partial R}dR + \frac{\partial V(R_0, h_0)}{\partial h}dh

Taking R_0=1.5 inches and h=3 inches and evaluating the partial derivatives we obtain:

V(R_0+dR, h_0+dh) = V(R_0, h_0) + \frac{\partial V(R_0, h_0)}{\partial R}dR + \frac{\partial V(R_0, h_0)}{\partial h}dh\\V(R, h) = V(R_0, h_0) + (\frac{2 h \pi r}{3}  + 2 \pi r^2)dR + (\frac{\pi r^2}{3} )dh

substituting the values and taking dx=0.1 and dh=0.3 inches we have:

V(R_0+dR, h_0+dh) =V(R_0, h_0) + (\frac{2 h \pi r}{3}  + 2 \pi r^2)dR + (\frac{\pi r^2}{3} )dh\\V(1.5+0.1, 3+0.3) =V(1.5, 3) + (\frac{2 \cdot 3 \pi \cdot 1.5}{3}  + 2 \pi 1.5^2)\cdot 0.1 + (\frac{\pi 1.5^2}{3} )\cdot 0.3\\V(1.5+0.1, 3+0.3) = 17.2002\\\boxed{V(1.5+0.1, 3+0.3) \approx 17.20}

Therefore the change in volume is estimated to be 17.20 \rm{in^3}
