"Twain employs humor to depict Pap's personality and opinion of education, as well as those who've been caring for his son. This form of humor illustrates Pap's ignorance." Don't copy this word for word

In this excerpt, Twain addresses a difficult and distressing subject. Huckleberry Finn's father does not want him to attend school. He believes that education is pointless, and he does not like the idea of having a son who is more educated than he is. However, even though the topic is not humorous in itself, Twain uses humour to depict the father's personality. This is done in order to emphasize the fact that it is the father's ignorance which limits him and makes him have such thoughts.

In his “Letter from Birmingham City Jail,” Martin Luther King, Jr. connects the public and private actions of the police thus:

 • They are both meant to preserve segregation.

What was King's description of the police?

In this excerpt from Martin's foremost letter, we can see his open condemnation of the police's treatment of Black men and women.

In the public, their dogs bit the Blacks and in private prisons, they were also not humane in their treatment of the prisoners.
