Write a paragraph that objectively summarizes Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" and explains his purpose. Review Swift's "A M

odest Proposal"
Here's the text! \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ Steal my points and ill mollywop you

It is a melancholy object to those, who walk through this great town, or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads and cabbin-doors crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags, and importuning every passenger for an alms. These mothers instead of being able to work for their honest livelihood, are forced to employ all their time in stroling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants who, as they grow up, either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native country, to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbadoes.

I think it is agreed by all parties, that this prodigious number of children in the arms, or on the backs, or at the heels of their mothers, and frequently of their fathers, is in the present deplorable state of the kingdom, a very great additional grievance; and therefore whoever could find out a fair, cheap and easy method of making these children sound and useful members of the common-wealth, would deserve so well of the publick, as to have his statue set up for a preserver of the nation.

But my intention is very far from being confined to provide only for the children of professed beggars: it is of a much greater extent, and shall take in the whole number of infants at a certain age, who are born of parents in effect as little able to support them, as those who demand our charity in the streets.

A summary is an objective review of the main points in a text. An objective summary of Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" is given below:

  • In this text, Jonathan Swift described a situation in the country where women begged with their children. He described this sight as a sad one to those who pass through the streets.
  • He mentioned that this occurrence was an added problem to their kingdom and that anyone with a viable solution to it will be rewarded hugely.
  • Finally, he hoped that the solutions to these problems will be extended to all children whose parents were unable to provide for their basic needs.

The purpose of this excerpt from Jonathan Swift was to inform people of the deplorable condition of children whose parents were unable to give the required necessities of life.

He wanted this situation addressed so that all children in the same or similar conditions, will receive help.

How does someone respect the feelings of others
Temka [501]

Throughout in our life journey, we are destined to have many people around us in form of relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even some strangers. They all play important role in our lives and help us to evolve as a strong human being. So having respect for the feelings of others is essential for us to grow as a strong individual.

As we all human beings are unique in our own way, so the persons around us may have different feelings, beliefs and behaviors in accordance with their own needs and motivations. They cannot react the same way in any given situation as we do. However, by respecting the feelings of others, we help us to realize our desired goal smoothly and live a truly contented life.

By respecting the feelings of others, we encourage them to share their feelings and experiences in a more friendly way, which reinforce relationship. Only having a respect for them is not enough, we have to show them that we care about them through empathy and understanding. We should never advice without being asked, criticize or lecture others because we do not know those people well enough to judge. In other words, disrespect is a sign of ignorance.

The best way to respect the feelings of the other people is by listening to them with empathy and in a nonjudgmental way so that they can share their feelings comfortably. After all, we all human beings have more similarities underneath our skin color, race, and religion.

Furthermore the truth is that everyone deserves respect. So we should treat people in a manner in which we expect to be treated. If in any case, our action is going to affect other people, we need to consider those peoples feelings before making a decision.

Finally, feelings are what make anyone feel worthwhile or worthless. It requires only a little bit of efforts to make anyone feel valuable. Therefore, we should learn how to respect the feelings of others to sustain relationship and have a happy life
