The result of making the required variable the subject in both equation are :

 • p = w - cg
 • h = - (m - r - 4d)

Making p the subject in w = p + cg :

w = p + cg

Subtract cg from bith sides

w - cg = p + cg - cg

p = w - cg

2.)

Make h the subject m = r - h + 4d

m = r - h + 4d

Subtract r from both sides

m - r = r - h + 4d - r

m - r = - h + 4d

Subtract 4d from both sides

m - r - 4d = - h

Divide both sides by - 1

h = - (m - r - 4d)

Part A:

We see that this pair of equations has 1 solution. On a graph, the solutions of 2 (or more) lines is where the lines intersect. In this case, since these lines intersect 1 time, they have 1 solution.

Part B:

As previously mentioned, the solutions of multiple lines is where the lines intersect. In this case, since they intersect at (4,4), that is the solution.

Find f(x)+g(x), given f(x)=x^2-8 and g(x)=-2-x^2
Gnoma [55]

\left(x^2-8\right)+\left(-2-x^2\right)=-10

\left(x^2-8\right)+\left(-2-x^2\right)

=x^2-8-2-x^2

=x^2-x^2-8-2

=-8-2

=-10
