The amount added to the original price of the jewelery is the Markup price. Hence, the amount added is $16.34

  • Markup = 57% = 0.57
  • Cost of jewellery = c
  • Retail price = $45

Retail price = cost of jewellery + Markup

$45 = c + 0.57c

45 = 1.57c

<em>Divide both sides by 1.57</em>

c = 45/1.57

c = $28.66

The Markup price = (Retail price - Original price)

  • Markup = $45 - $28.66 = $16.34

Therefore, the amount added to the original price is $16.34

1. -2x = 3x + 10<br> x = 5
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

-10 = 25

Step-by-step explanation:

-2x = 3x + 10

First, substitute in 5 for x

-2 x 5 = 3 x 5 + 10

Multiply -2 and 5 together

-10 = 3 x 5 + 10

Multiply 3 and 5 together

-10 = 15 + 10

Add 10 and 15 together

-10 = 25

2. Solve 3^4x-5 = (1/27)^2x+10 for x. Show your work
Jlenok [28]

It looks like the equation is supposed to read

3⁴ˣ ⁻ ⁵ = (1/27)²ˣ ⁺ ¹⁰

Recall that 3³ = 27, so 1/27 = 3⁻³ :

3⁴ˣ ⁻ ⁵ = (3⁻³)²ˣ ⁺ ¹⁰

Distribute the exponent on the right side:

3⁴ˣ ⁻ ⁵ = 3 ⁻⁶ˣ ⁻ ³⁰

The exponents must be equal for this equation to hold, so

4<em>x</em> - 5 = -6<em>x</em> - 30

Solve for <em>x</em> :

10<em>x</em> = -25

<em>x</em> = -25/10 = -5/2
