It is important for political leaders to understand public opinion because public opinion reflects the most popular view of the people. Public opinion is important as it is an overview of how many people think, if others listen especially those in power, they may have a greater outcome with the general public. Politcal leaders have the power in most countries due to other peoples support. Making sure they're listening and understanding others, helps them keep their power.

Recently the U.S has already approved the stimulus check which sends money to American workers.  Bernie Sanders who is openly a socialist is extremely popular with younger voters and Americas youth. who identifies as "Democratic Socialist". But far right republicans are extremely against Socialism and i do believe it could turn into a extremely important and viscous topic in the near future.
