Answer:

(-5, -8)

Step-by-step explanation:

- 9x + 5y = 5 \\  - 5x + 5y =  - 15

- 9x + 5y = 5 \\ 5x - 5y = 15

- 4x = 20

- x = 5

x =  - 5

-5( - 5) + 5y =  - 15

25 + 5y =  - 15

5y = -40

y = -8

First, we merge the questions, to do that we simplify both of them to get a positive side.

To do that, we can first mutliply both sides of the second equation by -1.

Due to that, we get the equations

-9x+5y=5

5x-5y=15

If we add up the equations, we get -4x = 20

We can simplify and get x=-5

To get y, we can first input x into the second equation:

5(-5)-5y=15

-25-5y=15

Simplify and we get -8.

Therefore we have (-5,-8)

jerry is a judge. He hears 5 cases every 2 3/8 hours. Jerry hears caese at a constant rat. How many cases does he hear per hour
faust18 [17]

Answer:

The number of cases heard by Jerry per hour is 2\frac{21}{500}

Step-by-step explanation:

The rate of hearing the cases is 5 cases in 2 3/8 hours.

Now, 2\frac{3}{8}   = 2+\frac{3}{8}  = 2 + 0.375 = 2.375

⇒The judge hears 5 cases in 2.375 hours.

So, the number of cases per hour = = \frac{\textrm{Total Number of cases heard}}{\textrm{Number of Hours}}  = \frac{5}{2.375}

                                                           = 2.105

Also, 2.105 =   2 + 0.105 =  2 + \frac{105}{1000}   = 2+\frac{21}{500}  = 2\frac{21}{500}

Hence, the number of cases heard by Jerry per hour is 2\frac{21}{500}

The buyer for a chain of stores purchased lawn ornaments in bulk, paying $23 each. The stores will sell each lawn ornament for $
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

The markup percentage is 61.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The cost price of each ornaments = $23

The sell price of each ornament = $37.08

Let The markup percentage = x

<u>Now, According to question</u>

Markup percentage = \dfrac{s.p - c.p}{c.p} × 100

Or, x% = \dfrac{37.08 - 23}{23}

Or, x% = \dfrac{14.08}{23}

Or, x% = 0.612

∴ x = 0.612 × 100

I.e x = 61.2

So, The The markup percentage = x = 61.2

Hence, The markup percentage is 61.2 Answer
