Which of the following was a reason for southern secession? A. choosing Jefferson Davis as leader of the Confederate States B. f
Levart [38]

The correct answer is: Familiarity with and disdain for the Northern industrial workplace.

In the 1860s the Southern states based their economy on agriculture, their crops required lots of manpower so they relied on slavery to work on their harvest. The Northern states were beginning to base their economy on manufacture and factories and they relied mainly on immigrants to work on factories, and were in favor of the abolition of slavery.

So when Abraham Lincoln won the elections in 1860, the Southern states felt the government was in hands of the Northern states and that it no longer watched over the Southern interests, they saw with disdain the Northern activity and that became a reason for the Southern secession from the Union.

irina [24]

In at least two hundred words, discuss the importance of memory in Act III of Our Town. How does the text illustrate this theme? Consider the way that memory influences the happiness of the characters, as well as how it fits into the overall theme of universality.

In the play Our Town, memory is an important element. The play touches on the topic of nostalgia, and on how humans tend to look back to the past with fondness. By doing this, they forget about enjoying the present, which reinforces the cycle.

An example is the character of Emily. She is now dead, and the dead advise her to stop looking toward the world of the living. She needs to let go of her past and move on. Moreover, she has to start looking towards her future and her new "life." However, Emily is incapable of letting go of her past. She is shocked to realize how humans do not appreciated life when it is going on, but instead take too much pleasure on their memories and their past. However, Emily is doing the same by being unable to let go of her past life and learning to appreciate what her present offers her.

Some of the trade routes used during the time of the Roman Empire are:

 • The trade routes of Greece and of the continental territories Adjoining.
 • Trade routes of Asia Minor.
 • The silk roads to China.
 • The sea routes to India and Ceylon.

What is a Trade Route?

This refers to the long-distance logistical network that is used in the transport of goods and is essential for commerce.

Hence, we can see that the trade routes which were in use between the Roman Empire and the civilizations of Africa and Asia are the southern African route that went down the Red Sea coast.

Also, the eastern coast of Africa to Rhapta, which is close to present-day Dar-es-Salaam.

It can be seen that all these trade routes were connected and linked by the Silk Road as it was the main avenue for trade between the Roman Empire and China and later between ancient European kingdoms and China.
