A subject is a topic of the particular work in literature. The subject is the major topic that is expanded by the pages of a literary work.

EXPLANATION:

People usually get clouded when they have to distinguish between themes and topics in literary works. Both of these terms are the same but are actually different. While the subject is the topic of a certain work, themes are ideas or opinions expressed by the subject. The subject can be an abstract idea or concept that works as the basis of a literary work. This is the basis of the events that makes up the characters in the story. Therefore, a theme exists in the subject because it reveals the writer's interpretation or understanding of the selected subject.

For instance, a writer selects "war" as the topic of the novel. Then, this writer selects "war is blasphemy for citizens in an area" as the theme of the novel. "War", as a subject, is a wide notion of literary work. This gives an idea of what will be told or discussed in the novel. The theme "war is blasphemy for citizens in an area" is a more precise discussion about novels. The theme provides a special topic about literary works.

svp [43]

The thesis statement is the one regarding the use of the story by O. Henry to show that poverty cannot affect true love becuase it expresses the gist of what O. Henry has wished to convey.  While Jim sells his beautiful pocket watch in order to buy Della a brooch for her beautiful long hair, Della sells her hair so as to be able to afford a chain for Jim's pocket watch. Thus, their material gifts are rendered useless, but still each has proved to the other that they would rather give up their most prized possessions in order to please the other, and by doing so prove their mutual love. This discovery is the true gift that they both receive from the Magi on tht Christmas day.

Answer:

Clue provides an instance of the unknown word.

Explanation:

A clue is a word, phrase, or symbol that can help one to determine the meaning of something that is unknown or missing in a context.  It is a hint or pointer.  During investigations, especially of a missing person, the police rely on clues provided by the surrounding events and the words used by others around to figure out the solution so that they can reconstruct the sequence of events and so decipher the whereabout of the missing person, the meaning of the action, or the words and symbols used.
