Why does Jefferson approve of having the House of Representatives chosen by voters?
frutty [35]
After we had won our independence, Jefferson firmly believed that in this new nation there would be no kings or queens or monarchy rule. To avoid this he wanted to establish the law that the United States would be run by the people thus creating the cabinet and the president and also allowing American citizens that met certain qualifications to vote on the representatives because it gave more power back to the people.

When did John C. Calhoun coin the phrase "state's rights"?
VikaD [51]

Answer: The answer is:

B in arguments about federal interference with southern states practing slavery.

Explanation:      This a part of his ideas.

<em>  "Our safety and prosperity depend on maintaining, in their full vigor, the restrictions imposed on the powers granted by the Constitution. So long as these are so maintained, and the powers confined to the objects intended by that sacred compact, we will be safe and prosperous,"</em>

For him, states’ rights theory was not a vindication of local democracy, but a safeguard for the distinct interests of the Southern slaveholding minority.
