The structure and function of mitochondria are often used as support for the endosymbiotic theory. Describe two of these propert
GREYUIT [131]
Mitochondria are made from the process called binary fission. This is the cell division utilized by the prokaryotes. It also has circular DNA that is similar in both size and structure in prokaryotic cells. Mitochondria also has its own DNA different than the DNA found in the nucleus of a cell.

The cells that make up your skin are not the same as the cells found in your muscles. Suggests a reason why these cells are diff
notka56 [123]

Explanation:

Skin cells are specialized to be quickly shed and replaced, and do not have much mitochondria (which helps produce energy). Muscle cells, conversely, have lots of mitochondria because they need energy to produce movement.

A skin cell should proliferate very well and at the same time be protected against UV radiation, it would be important to have a function in which is cell is flexible, but also comparably hard.

A muscle cell needs a huge metabolism, a certain way to function, UV protection on the other side is really not its business.

Endangered species, white rhinos (2 left in captivity, both females...)  :'(

Invasive species, feral pig

Global warming, no offence but i feel that global warming is not a thing, going from hot to cold is a normal process as earth is not always the same distance always from the sun, but i will give you an example,  increased heat % over the years.

what are two characteristics a bird population must have to survive a rise in temperature? in what way are they likely to change
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

1. Heat tolerance: This will allow birds to maintain a body temperature around 10 degrees below the high air temperature.

2. Thermoregulation capabilities: Having thermoregulatory plasticity allows birds to adapt to warm conditions by increasing their evaporation rate and, therefore, increasing heat loss.

Explanation:

Today, it is extremely important for fauna to adapt to high temperatures that will become the "new normal" because of climate change and global warming.

Some species of birds have the ability to thermoregulate by behavioral or physiological processes. This will allow them to cope with increased temperatures and adapt to new climates. Other birds, however, are not able to withstand high temperatures, which could lead to high mortality and, therefore, increased population declines.

To adapt to these conditions birds should have a <u>high heat tolerance</u> threshold, <u>this will allow birds to maintain a body temperature around 10 to 15 degrees below the high air temperature</u>. For example, if the air temperature is around 30 ºC, their body temperature could remain below 20 ºC.

Also, they should have thermoregulation capabilities or plasticity. <u>This means that through different methods, such as reducing metabolism or increasing their evaporation rate, they will be able to cope by losing or exchaning heat with the environment.</u>
