gravi is gravity

tropos means 'turning'

so means turning to gravtity


phototroposism

photos=light

tropos='turning'

so it means turning toward the light


photosynthysis

photos=light

synthysis=tuning into or transforming into a useable form

so it means turning light into a usable form
