Churchill believed that governments in Eastern Europe were falling victim to dominance from the Soviet Union and were becoming police states that promoted the communist agenda.
In his famous "Sinews of Peace" speech given at Westminster College in Missouri, in 1946, Churchill coined the term "Iron Curtain" for what he saw falling as a barrier between Western and Eastern Europe.
