She has been nominated for awards such as Academy Award for Best Costume Design fourteen times, winning three awards for the films Shakespeare in Love (1998), The Aviator (2004), and The Young Victoria (2009). She went to Sydenham High School, Central School of Art and Design, and Central Saint Martins for her degrees. She's designed costumes for movies such as The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Orlando, and Edward II.
