The  effect that the Tang Dynasty  had on the civil service system was that it retained and refined the civil service system that the Sui Dynasty had restored.

The Tang dynasty constituted a dynasty which run China from 618 to 907. Before its existence, the Sui dynasty ruled and it was followed by the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period in Chinese history.

The Tang dynasty was founded by the Li family by seizing power when the Sui Empire collapsed.
