Religion in the Middle Ages was dominated by Christianity. It is the era in which the great cathedrals of Europe were built and the Catholic Church started its universities in Paris, Tubingen, Cambridge, and Oxford. During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church was the only church in Europe. The laws of the land and leading roles in the government were all in the hands of the leading church leaders like bishops and archbishops. It was an era when the vested powers in the hands of the Pope were so great that he could even excommunicate a king for a misdeed. From birth to death, the life of the medieval people was dominated entirely by the church and many religious institutions gained power and wealth.

Did Hoover handle the Bonus Army march well? Use primary and secondary sources to explain why or why not.
Liula [17]

Hoover did not handle the Bonus Army well.

The Bonus Army was a group of 43 thousand protestors - WWI veterans and their families - who gathered in Washington DC to demand payment for their service certificates.

President Hoover did not attempt to negotiate with the protestors, first, he ordered to have them removed from government’s property and later he ordered to the Army to clear the marcher’s campsite.

To do so, infantry and cavalry was used and additionally, six tanks.

Public opinion on Hoover’s actions was strong, newspapers and newsreels - that were popular at the time - showed images of the violence perpetrated on soldiers and their families. This was considered one of the strongest factors that influenced his lost at elections to Roosevelt.
