How are Zeus and Athene similar in The Iliad of Homer?
olga_2 [115]

First of all Zeus has no mother. In this sense he is like Athene because she was born from his forehead and has no mother either. She is the godess of wisdom and on many ocassions Zeus is sought for advice on the same matter. Both are corageous and wise.Zeus seems to have this ability to procreate and Athene is also godd at giving birth to inventions useful for men. Also they are the older gods together with Dionysious. She acts on her own initiative without asking Zeus and the god, in turn acts according to his will without asking any other. Both usually work together and are the most powerful  of the gods.

Can anyone translate this stanza for me? - The Republican Genius of Europe by Philip Freneau
Elenna [48]

Answer:

it's already completed, but here's the whole poem:

Explanation:

The Republican Genius of Europe

Emporers and kings! in vain you strive

Your torments to conceal--

The age is come that shakes your thrones,

Tramples in dust despotic crowns,

And bids the sceptre fail.

In western worlds the flame began:

From thence to France it flew--

Through Europe, now, it takes its way,

Beams an insufferable day,

And lays all tyrants low.

Genius of France! pursue the chase

Till Reason’s laws restore

Man to be Man, in every clime;--

That Being, active, great, sublime

Debas’d in dust no more.

In dreadful pomp he takes his way

O’er ruin’d crowns, demolish’d thrones--

Pale tyrants shrink before his blaze--

Round him terrific lightenings play--

With eyes of fire, he looks then through,

Crushes the vile despotic crew,

And Pride in ruin lays.
