R2+2r-33=0 solve by completing the square
-BARSIC- [3]
R^2+2r-33=0 move constant to other side by adding 33 to both sides

r^2+2r=33 halve the linear coefficient, square it and add to both sides, in this case it is just one

r^2+2r+1=34 now the left side is a perfect square...

(r+1)^2=34 take the square root of both sides...

r+1=34^(1/2) subtract 1 from both sides

r=-1+34^(1/2) and -1-34^(1/2)

A circular merry-go-round has a radius of 5 feet. Find the distance of a spin of one full rotation. Use 3.14 for pi and round th
Sedbober [7]

Option C

The distance of a spin of one full rotation is 31.4 feet

Solution:

Given that,

A circular merry-go-round has a radius of 5 feet

Radius = 5 feet

We have to find the distance of spin for one full rotation

Distance covered in 1 full of rotation is equal to circumference of circle

The circumference of circle is given as:

C = 2 \pi r

Where "r" is the radius

C = 2 \times 3.14 \times 5\\\\C = 6.28 \times 5\\\\C = 31.4

Thus the distance of a spin of one full rotation is 31.4 feet

What is the area of d=8 and r=4
Alex

So, for the semi circle, we need to find the area of a circle then divide it by 2.

pi times r squared

\pi 16 is the area of a circle with the radius of 4

(I'm going to use 3.14 as pi)

So 3.14 times 16 is 50.24

Divide that by 2 and we get 25.12

For the rectangle at the bottom. We know that the radius is four, so we can cut off 4ft from the height, leaving us with 8.

8 times 8 is 64.

To find the area of the whole figure, we add 64 and 25.12 together, getting 89.12

So the area is 89.12 feet squared.
