Which evidence supports the idea that life on Earth has continually evolved
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

Fossils are the remains of long-dead organisms, preserved in rock. Because rocks are laid down in layers, one on top of the other, the fossil record is generally set out in date order: the oldest fossils are at the bottom. Running through the fossil record makes it clear that life has changed over time.

Select the correct answer.
almond37 [142]

Answer:

Respiration is a process in which energy is released due to the breakdown of glucose molecules with the addition of oxygen forming carbondioxode, water and energy in the form of Adenine tri phosphate (ATP). This process also occurs in the absence of oxygen but then low amount of energy is generated. This process occurs in mitochondria of the cell. The energy which is produced during respiration is used by the cell in different processes and activities such as movement, exercise and thinking etc.

Why is impossible for post-transcriptional editing of mRNA to occur in prokaryotes?
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

It's impossible because there is no place within the cell for it to occur. In eukaryotes, you have two different regions; the nucleus and the cytoplasm. In prokaryotes, however, you lack the nucleus, meaning you only have the cytoplasm. So, as one can see, there is no separate region for post-transcriptional editing of mRNA to occur in prokaryotes.

When does cellular respiration occur? are there any situations where living cells are not respiring?
ivann1987 [24]
Cellular respiration occurs in the mitochondria, the double membrane organelle. It occurs when the cells need energy, storage molecules like glycogen are rapidly broken down from being a polysaccharide to its monomer units which undergo reactions once transported to the cells requiring energy and broken down to release its energy.

Yes, there is a situation where living cells are not respiring. For example in the microbial cell that lives in anaerobic environments in specific environments will use fermentation instead of respiration to produce ATP. The example of this is the yeast cells in beer mash.
