The ethnic assimilation in the United States is so slow Because of one political party that exists today due to racial, religious, economic, and social differences. If they ever allowed true assimilation, in other words becoming American without a hyphen, to happen again, they would only be a coastal party and never control federal policies again.
I would probably be calm and coaperative with them. I would do this because the more nervous and unsure you act, the more defencive they will most likely be.
