We are looking for the value of the second integer, so let's mark it as X.

Then three consecutive integers are : (x-1) , x , (x+1)

The sum of the first and the third integers (X-1) + (X+1)

Five less than three times the second integer 3X - 5

Now we can write an equation and solve it for X

(X-1)+(X+1)= 3X - 5 simplifying left part

2X = 3X -5 subtract 2X from both sides

0 = X-5

X=5

SO THREE CONSECUTIVE INTEGERS ARE 4, 5, 6

Answer:

The three consecutive integers are 12, 13 & 14

Explanation:

Let the three consecutive integers be x, x + 1, x + 2

According to the question,

If sum of the first and third integers is increased by 8, the result is 5 less than triple the second integer.

\therefore x + x + 2 + 8 = (x + 1) × 3 - 5

2x + 10 = 3x + 3 - 5

2x + 10 = 3x - 2

10 + 2 = 3x - 2x

x = 12

So, The three consecutive integers are 12, 13 & 14

Elena-2011 [213]

In the case above of if solid sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide be used for this purpose and the answer is No.

What is the experiment about?

The experiment was to see if solid sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide be used for SN1 procedure.

The response is neither the addition or presence of NaOH or KOH would be able to delete or remove water from the solution.

Note that Both are known to be strong bases and they would be able to make water dissociate instead of remove water from the solution. They are known to often cause an elimination reaction.
