Answer:

It showed the Iron curtain falling with ing west and east germany. In east germany it was all communism and the conditions were pretty bad. People starved and it didn’t help with the iron curtain preventing people from leaving their section of Berlin. It was a catalyst that started the downfall of the USSR. It showed they couldn’t control their citizens any longer.
