Similarities that can be associated with theories of Piaget and Erikson are;

They both recognized that the development of children occurs through stages as well as  milestones and they both acknowledge how important is reflexes and instinctive behavior.

The differences that can be attributed to the theories of Piaget and Erickson is that;

The understanding of development by Erikson is base on the whole life of individual while that of Piaget s within the range of infancy to the late teenage years.

Erikson actually base his theory on cognitive development while emotional development is the target of Piaget.

  • The theories that were introduced by both Erikson and Piaget were all base on human development.

  • However, they are both similar at some point, they stressed that development occurs through stages as well as  milestones, there are some difference such as Erickson actually focused on cognitive development while Piaget theory were more of emotional development.

We can conclude that they both focus on human development.
