I think the answer is Silk Road, also called Silk Route, ancient trade route, linking China with the West, that carried goods and ideas between the two great civilizations of Rome and China. Silk went westward, and wools, gold, and silver went east. China also received Nestorian Christianity and Buddhism (from India) via the Silk Road.

She knew what she was doing was going to get her in trouble yet she did it anyways because of the unjust treatment her race faced which can be seen as her moral courage. Also, it caught the world's attention & that attention was finally more focused on the treatment blacks endured. :)
