One of the most important things established in the United States Constitution is the division of power through the system of checks and balances in which none of the branches has more power over the others. The Executive branch is represented by the US President. The Legislative branch is represented bu the US Congress, and the Judicial Branch is represented by the US Supreme Court. Something similar happens in the local governments.
