Considering the available options, the two statements that best describe the strategies of the Northern and Southern leaders during the Civil War include "<u>Union leaders intended to blockade, invade and divide the South."</u>

  • This was done during the American Civil War as the North blocked the ports in the South to cut off the supply from foreign countries, especially Europe.

  • The North also invaded and divided the South into two at the Mississippi River while destroying their infrastructure.

The second statement that best describes the strategies of the Northern and Southern leaders during the Civil War is that "<u>Confederate leaders hoped that Northerners would soon tire of the war."</u>

  • This is because Confederates are generally the majority of the United States Army, and they believe their military ancestry would give them the edge to wear down the Union.

The American Civil war occurred between 1861 and 1865. The North are termed the Union, while the South are termed the Confederates.

Hence, in this case, it is concluded that the correct answer is options C and F.

Define federalism. How did the introduction of federalism affect the rights of the state governments?
Flura [38]
Federalism is a mixed form of government in which power is shared, ideally equally, between a central (federal) government and region (state) governments.

Federalism generally reduced the rights of the states, since they became actors within a federal system and limited in their powers, rather than operating as their own distinct entities.

Germany hoped to achieve a quick victory in the First World War by invading which country first?
Levart [38]

The best answer is  C

The plan to attack France first was a plan by the German Chief of General Staff, Alfred Von Schlieffen which he came up with way back  in 1905.

He decided that France was the enemy to be defeated first, with Russia held off until the French were annihilated. He  worked out a detailed time timetable that took into account possible French responses to German actions. He believed that Germany would defeat France within six weeks, then after that  he would turn his full force on Russia.

Schlieffen plan was heavily modified by his successor Moltke, thus during the outbreak of WWI in 1914, it was not implemented  as Schlieffen had envisioned.
