This is using the Pythagorean theorem. 2 sides of the triangle can get you the third side but only when it’s a right triangle.

The formula goes a^2+b^2=c^2, where a and b are legs of the triangle (the non hypotenuse sides), and c is the hypotenuse (the side opposite to the right angle).

In this problem, we have one leg and the hypotenuse.

So a^2+7^2=10^2.
Simplify
a^2+49=100
Subtract both sides by 49
a^2=100-49=51
Square root both sides
a=sqrt(51). 51 is prime so the radical cannot be simplified further.

Please answer and explain.
djyliett [7]

Answer:

x = 13

Step-by-step explanation:

The sum of the exterior angles of a 4 sided polygon is 360

139+ 6x+9x+2x = 360

Combine like terms

139+17x=360

Subtract 139 from each side

17x = 360-139

17x = 221

Divide each side by 17

17x/17 = 221/17

x = 13

Suppose r(140°, P)(A) = B and (RPD←→∘RPC←→)(A) = B, what is m∠CPD?
NISA [10]

An angle bisector divides an angle into two equal halves.

The measure of angle \angle CPD is 70 degrees

The complete question is an illustrates the concept of angle bisector;

Where:

\angle RPD = 140^o, and line PC bisects \angle RPD

Because line PC bisects \angle RPD, then it means that the measure of RPD is twice the measure of CPD:

So, we have:

\angle RDP = 2 \times \angle CPD

Substitute \angle RPD = 140^o

140^o = 2 \times \angle CPD

Divide both sides by 2

70^o = \angle CPD

Apply symmetric property of equality:

\angle CPD = 70^o

Hence, the measure of angle \angle CPD is 70 degrees

skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

x² + 4x + 20 = 12x - 5

x² + 4x - 12x + 20 + 5 = 0

x² - 8x + 25 = 0

Δ = √b² - 4ac

= √(-8)² - 4×1×25

= √64-100

= √(-36)
