We use the verb<em> ser</em> to talk about permanent or lasting attributes. In this way, this verb stands for <em>descriptions, occupations, characteristics, time, origin</em> and <em>relationships. </em>The goal of this exercise is to write five complete sentences using <em>descriptions </em>(One for me and four for other friends).<em> </em>In this exercise, we will use the simple present. Therefore:
FIRST.
Yo soy muy inteligente.
<em>Soy </em>is the conjugation of the verb ser for the First-Person Singular (yo - I) in the simple present. In English, the meaning of this sentence is:
<em>I </em><em>am </em><em>very intelligent.</em>
SECOND.
Alejandro es alto y moreno.
<em>es </em>is the conjugation of the verb ser for the Third-Person Singular (he - él). In English, the meaning of this sentence is:
<em>Alejandro </em><em>is</em><em> tall and brown.</em>
THIRD.
Jane es preciosa.
In this case, the person is a woman. The conjugation remains the same <em>es </em>even though <em>Jane</em> can be replaced by the feminine pronoun<em> ella (she)</em> that stands for the Third-Person Singular as well. In English, the meaning of this sentence is:
<em>Jane </em><em>is</em><em> beautiful.</em>
FOURTH.
Mi amigo Jesús es un caballero
In this case, <em>Mi amigo Jesús </em>can be replaced by the pronoun <em>él (he). </em>As in the second case, <em>es </em> is the conjugation of the verb ser that matches the Third-Person Singular. In English, this sentence means:
<em>My friend Jesus</em><em> is</em><em> a gentleman</em>
FIFTH.
Mis amigas Ariana y Caroly son delgadas
<em>Mis amigas Ariana y Caroly </em>can be replaced by the pronoun <em>ellas (they) </em>that stands for the Third-Person Plural. Thus, son is the conjugation of the verb ser for the Third-Person Plural. So, this sentence means:
<em>My friends Ariana and Caroly </em><em>are</em><em> thin</em>
