Connotative words are words that arouse feelings inside the reader, rather than literal, dictionary definitions.
Home: having a safe shelter—a place to live and grow up or could mean somewhere you feel safe like maybe in your mother’s arms when she holds you.
Dwelling: a safe area for you and might be a mound type of thing and protects from outside harsh environments.
House: a safe shelter; a place to live and reside. A place where you are sure it’ll guard you and keep you safe. Not worrying because it’s the safety of your own home we’re talking about!
Residence: residing or staying somewhere—could be permanently or nomadic-styled. An area where you might grow up but reside in a comfortable area.

Elliott organized his experiment on a group of people with different eye colors. People with light eyes would be treated with disrespect and would spend hours standing in a line, without care, and in an uncomfortable environment. People with dark eyes, on the other hand, would be treated kindly, be seated in a comfortable place, and eat donuts while waiting to be served.
The blue-eyed people were being treated in a racist way and this showed how much racism is humiliating, intimidating, degrading, and depressing, as they felt very bad about the way they were treated, even though they suffered racism indirectly. These feelings were provoked to show how much racism is harmful and intensely hurts people.

A metaphor would be a figure of speech which makes an implicit or hidden comparison between two things that are unrelated but share common traits.
