Answer:

Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle to expose the appalling working conditions in the meat-packing industry. His description of diseased, rotten, and contaminated meat shocked the public and led to new federal food safety laws.

Before the turn of the 20th century, a major reform movement had emerged in the United States. Known as progressives, the reformers were reacting to problems caused by the rapid growth of factories and cities. Progressives at first concentrated on improving the lives of those living in slums and in getting rid of corruption in government.

By the beginning of the new century, progressives had started to attack huge corporations like Standard Oil, U.S. Steel, and the Armour meat-packing company for their unjust practices. The progressives revealed how these companies eliminated competition, set high prices, and treated workers as "wage slaves."

The progressives differed, however, on how best to control these big businesses. Some progressives wanted to break up the large corporations with anti-monopoly laws. Others thought

Document 1: Charles Lindbergh | Des Moines Speech | September 11, 1941
djverab [1.8K]

The thing which Charles Lindbergh was advocating in his speech is:

 • Neutrality

Based on the given speech, we can see that there is the argument made by the speaker in no uncertain terms about the need for the United States to remain neutral and not be drawn into a war which had nothing to do with them.

Furthermore, he believed that the British should not have declared war on Germany if they were not capable of fighting and winning the war without the inclusion of America.

He cited the rising unemployment, the economy, poverty rates which were all internal problems of America and they did not need to be persuaded or cajoled to join the war of Britain.

Explain, in a paragraph of your own words, what you consider to be the “#1 Cost of the American Civil War.” Choices: (Social, Ec
Aleks [24]

Explain, in a paragraph of your own words, what you consider to be the “#1 Cost of the American Civil War.”

I think that number one cost of conflict was economic. Just to think that 617,528 people died is not a good thought. Both the Union and the Confederate had to spend a lot of money. The Confederate states spent a lot of money on property damage and the Union lost a lot of human capital. Both the Confederacy and the Union also spent a lot of money on government expenditures. Also if you think about it both the north and south had to pay a lot of money for their troops. Combined they had a total of 2,638,797 soldiers. Imagine how much money you’ll need to pay all these soldiers. This is why I think that the number one cost of the war was economically.

_______________________________________________________

Was the cost of the war higher for the North or the South? Be sure to consider the social, political, and economic effects of the war.

By far the Union’s cost was much higher than the Confederacy’s cost. First of all the Union had more troops so they would have to pay more also they lost more troops. Second, the lost the most human capital and had more government expenses. Third, all the slaves were freed, although this is a good thing but all the rich people that used them to sell their products had lost all of their employees. Fourth, their were many states that did not vote because they seceded. Also everyone disagreed about the future because if everyone thought that only 1 candidate was right then the election would not be as close as it was. In conclusion the Union had a much larger cost because of the war.

Hope This Helps!

Which quote from the passage best illustrates an example of how teens are impacted by the power of likes
Ksju [112]

Answer:

Teens were much more likely to like images that seemed popular — those that had more than 23 likes, Sherman's team found. The kids tended to skip pictures with few likes. And the brain's reward pathways became especially active when the teens viewed their own photos with many likes.

Explanation:

The file refers to the way in which social networks affect the perception of teenagers regarding the world around them, and especially regarding their interpersonal relationships and their connection with success and failure.

Thus, it refers to how the support or acceptance of the other regarding their image, activities and other characteristics is essential for the construction of the young person's self-esteem, even supplying the own feeling of improvement or personal enjoyment. Thus, teenagers tend to take actions that have a greater impact on social networks, generating greater approval from their peers, which links them with them in a positive way.
