Alright, so we can make a right triangle, with the sides being h, sqrt(34), and sqrt (3^2+4^2) due to that we can draw a right triangle with the diagonal of the base. sqrt (3^2+4^2)= sqrt (25)=5. Since sqrt (34) is the hypotenuse,
sqrt (34) - 5^2=h^2 = 9, making h =3

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (-4,-2) and (-4,-22)? Write your answer in simplest form.
Anuta_ua [19.1K]

Answer:

20x  - 4 = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{y - y1 }{y2 - y1}  =  \frac{x - x1}{x2 - x1}  \\ x1 =  - 4 \\ y1 =  - 2 \\ x2 =  - 4 \\ y2 =  - 22

x2 =  - 4 \\ y2 =  - 22

A circle has a 10 centimeter radius. Find the area of the circle to the nearest tenth. (Use 3.14 for ?)
pickupchik [31]

Answer:

314.2 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the area of a circle of radius r is A = 3.14r^2.

With r = 10 cm, r^2 = 100 cm^2, and so the area of this circle is 314.2 cm^2, to the nearest tenth.

An 18 ft. tree casts a 15 ft. long shadow as shown in the following figure. Which of the following is the angle formed by the su
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

The angle is 50.2°.

Step-by-step explanation:

The tree and its shadow from a right triangle with the tree being the perpendicular and the shadow being the base as shown in the figure attached.

Therefore the angle θ formed by the sun's rays and the ground is:

\theta = tan^-1(\frac{18}{15} )=\boxed{50.2^o}

In a hydraulic lift, a 1400 N force is applied to a 0.5 m2 piston. Calculate the minimum surface area of the large piston to lif
dexar [7]

Answer:

1.8m^2 approx

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

P1= 1400N

A1=0.5m^2

P2=5000 N

A2=??

Let us apply the formula to calculate the Area A2

P1/A1= P2/A2

substitute

1400/0.5= 5000/A2

cross multiply

1400*A2= 5000*0.5

1400*A2= 2500

A2= 2500/1400

A2= 1.78

Hence the Area is 1.8m^2 approx
