He was looked up more from the writers as an inspiration, it was the other way around. The inspiration to Poe 's darkest and most well known poem, written in 1845, was a real raven that was the beloved pet of the writer Charles Dickens who named it Grip.

But when they meet after twenty years, Jimmy realizes that his friend is a known criminal who is being searched for, and, as he used to be close to him in the past, <em>he cannot arrest him on his own</em>, so he looks for another police officer to arrest his friend.
