The message the author wants to express is that there is a state of political and social unrest, which threatens our environment and nature. However, a clean-up is not a solution to this problem, as the situation is not that simple. Through suggesting an international clean-up, the author calls for his readers to pay attention to this problem, and think of a real-life solution to it.
