In the picture, we can see a market in a certain town in Netherlands. We can see that some sort of a trade is going on - people are interacting with merchants, giving them money for the goods they want to buy. It is very similar to today's trading system, where you go and peruse through items of clothing and choose whatever you like, and then buy after interacting with the seller.
