Just plugin -5 into the equation <span>f(x) = −x^2 − 10x + 16
</span>f(x) = −(-5)^2 − 10(-5) + 16 solve and the answer will be f(x) = 41
<span>
so  (-5, 41) is the answer. </span>

we know that

The equation of a vertical parabola in vertex form is equal to

y=a(x-h)^{2} +k

where

(h,k) is the vertex

if a > 0 -----> the parabola open upward (vertex is a minimum)

if a < 0 -----> the parabola open downward (vertex is a maximum)

In a vertical parabola the axis of symmetry is equal to

x=h

In this problem we have

f(x)=-x^{2}-10x+16

Complete the square

f(x)-16=-(x^{2}+10x)

f(x)-16-25=-(x^{2}+10x+25)

f(x)-41=-(x+5)^{2}

f(x)=-(x+5)^{2}+41

The parabola open downward

the vertex is the point (-5,41) (is a maximum)

therefore

the answer is

(-5,41)

Each circle counts as one whole, Write a mixed number giving the amount shaded. Then, write this amount as an improper fraction.
devlian [24]

Answer:

2 \frac{2}{5}

\frac{12}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

As a mixed fraction, There are 3 circles with 5 pieces in each so our denominator will be 5

The number that is shaded is 2 whole circles so that is 10 and 2 out of 5 of last one.

The whole number is 2 and the fraction for the last circle is 2/5 so our mixed number is

2 \frac{2}{5}

Now to find the improper fraction turn 2 into a fraction with 5 as a denominator.

\frac{2}{1}  \times  \frac{5}{5}

Which equal

\frac{10}{5}

Then add 2/5 to 10/5

\frac{10}{5}  +  \frac{2}{5}  =  \frac{12}{5}

A safety regulation states that the height h of a guardrail should be 106 centimeters with an absolute deviation of no more than
Anvisha [2.4K]

Answer: We are given:

The height h of a guardrail = 106 centimeters

Absolute deviation =  7 centimeters

The absolute value inequality is |x-106|\leq 7

To find the acceptable heights of a guardrail , we add and subtract absolute deviation(7) from the mean height(106)

The acceptable range of height is:

106 + 7 = 113

106 - 7 = 99

Acceptable heights are defined by

99 cm \leq h\leq 113cm

Therefore, the acceptable range of heights of a guardrail are 99 cm to 113 cm.
