A risk factor is a condition that increases the chance of injury or disease. When evaluating health risks, it is imperative to analyze the possible benefits as well as risks of a decision.

Evaluating health risks refers to the analysis of risks before taking decisions when realizing a given activity.

In heath, the risk factors may include tobacco use, alcohol use, blood pressure (i.e., hypertension), genetic predisposition and physical inactivity.

The consequences of these risk factors are different outcomes associated with distinct health problems (e.g., hypertension may lead to cardiovascular disease).
