Which enzyme functions to prevent supercoiling of the DNA molecule during replication?
melamori03 [73]

Answer:

The enzyme Topoisomerase functions to prevent super-coiling of the  DNA molecule during replication.

Explanation:

  • During replication, topoisomerases are required to relieve the positive supercoiling that arises from DNA unwiding mediated by Helicases.
  • A DNA topoisomerase is a nuclease that breaks a phosphodiester bond in a DNA strand.
  • All topoiomereases are classified as  Topoisomerase I and Topoisomerase II  depending on whether they cleave one or two strands respectively.
  • Topoisomerase I do not use ATP as a source of energy, the reaction is powered by energy stored in super-coiled DNA.
  • Topoisomerase II also do not require external energy but it utilizes ATP hydrolysis to drive conformation changes in the protein during reaction cycle.

Answer:

The correct answer will be- placebo effect

Explanation:

In the given question, the experiment was performed to test the effect of a new drug on humans in which the new drug was given to the experimental  group but a non-effective drug to the control group.

This type of study on the control group is known as the placebo effect in which the treatment is provided not on the basis of the drug but on the belief system that the provided drug will treat the problem.

In the given question, the people of control group believed that they received the real treatment which is not the case. Thus, they were provided with the placebo effects.

Thus, the placebo effect is the correct answer.

Why are intravenous solutions generally isotonic and not hypotonic or hypertonic what is the significance of normal saline?
Sholpan [36]
Because it can induce osmosis.

The best solution for intravenous in most condition is isotonic because it will not upset the oncotic pressure of the blood. If you use hypertonic or hypotonic solution, the oncotic pressure can be altered and causing osmosis happen to the cell. The osmosis can cause injury to the cell as its water content will be changed.
