What are two misconceptions about the Pilgrims that many
GuDViN [60]

Hi, you've asked an incomplete question. It seems you are likely referring to the online article, The complicated legacy of the Pilgrims by Peter C. Mancall, Andrew W. Mellon Professor of the Humanities, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences on the actively learn website.

<u>Explanation:</u>

1. The first misconception occurs when we are told that even though many American students have been taught to believe that the Compact signed by the pilgrims was <em>"a stepping stone toward self-government, a defining feature of American constitutional democracy. "</em> it isn't actually the case, the article explains why, <em> "After all, self-governing communities existed across Indigenous New England long before European migrants arrived...So </em><em>American self-government</em><em>, however one defines it, was </em><em>not</em><em> born in Plymouth."</em>

<em>2. </em>Another misconception was that the Pilgrims showed kindness and love towards the indigenous people they met, For example, we are told that in 1802, "the future President John Quincy Adams" referring to the pilgrims said, <em>"shown “kindness and equity toward the savages.” </em>However, William Bradford another observer said about the land, <em>“a hideous and desolate wilderness, full of wild beasts and wild men.”</em>

Moreover, the article further says,<em> "...colonists slaughtered Indigenous people on the banks of the Mystic River." </em>This alludes to the fact that there was a very little period of kindness amongst the Pilgrims and the indigenous people they met.

50 POINTS AND BRAINLIEST!!!!!!!!!!
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

<em>hey there,</em>

*You never provided a passage set, so I will just write what I think about this, personally, and I cannot include any evidence from sources, since you didn't give any here.

Also, it says "no plagiarism, I will know" so please don't copy this exactly but instead use the <em>ideas</em> I have provided in what I wrote.*

I think that having competitive team sports in high schools is a good thing. Competitive team sports have shown for a long time to be good for students. First, high schoolers will be able to experience what it's like to be on a team and get to socialize or make new friends. Second, students get to compete for awards and pride from their school, which makes a lot of kids happy. Last, sports provide a lot of exercises which is very important during your teenage years.

Being on a team is something to cherish for a long time. A lot of students already have many great friends, but there is always space for new people to add to your life. Talking to people is proven to make you happier and sometimes even do better in school. Losing or winning together as a team is much funner than alone. Practicing together daily or weekly lets you spend more time with them. Even hanging out outside of school will be a memory you will never forget.

Continuing on, competing is something kids have always loved. Whether it is a beauty pageant or a baseball game, winning always makes you feel good. Some kids have rows of medals and trophies in their rooms, and winning more with their team in high school will add to their collection. Years later, high school students will look back and see the memories brought from each trophy and remember each game, including how they won, and what made them happy. The school they go to will add their trophies and hang up posters, sometimes, to show respect for the winner of games.

Lastly, playing sports is something that should always be done. The more you do sports, the better you feel in general. Developing healthy habits at a young age is extremely important. It's much more exciting to get your physical education while doing something you love. Doing a quick stretch or a few jumping jacks before every game will get your body moving and your heart racing. It has been proven to help with mental problems of teenagers and helps students do better in school.

To sum up, doing competitive sports in high school is something that should always be done because of the great benefits you get like being on a team, winning medals, and getting good exercise. Those were my reasons why all high schools should be providing competitive team sports.
