Answer: Elizabeth believes that John is trying to protect Abigail by not going to Salem. John becomes angered and tries to explain that he has forgotten Abigail. He is frustrated that Elizabeth will not forgive him and move on from the situation.

Elizabeth twice hurts her own defense in this scene. First she says she does not have any dolls. Second she wants Abigail dead. Elizabeth was being charged with the stabbing of Abigail by sending out her spirit. So by lyingly saying she didn't have any dolls (the means she used to stab Abigail) and the fact that she indeed did want Abigail dead, she hurt her of defense.
