The unification had a large impact because it has changed the balance of powers in the continent forever on. For 30 years Bismarck dominated the German politics and was one of the main rulers in Europe.

Three wars took place to achieve the German unification:

1. The Danish War (1864- 1865). Denmark was defeated and the war concluded with Prussia taking control over Schleswig and Austria controlling Holstein.

2. Prussian Austrian War (1866). Prussia achieved victory under Bismarck's command, but Prussia and Austria arrived to agreements to become allies from this moment on.

3. Franco Prussian War. After victory, Prussia was finally able to unify all German states.
