The Renaissance was a time of learning and art after the "Dark Ages" in Europe. The main characteristics of the Renaissance are:
• The Commercial Revolution began, it's when different European countries developed urban commercial centers; it also began when Feudalism passed.
• The revival of Greek and Roman Art.
• The mastery of making illusion techniques on canvas (art).
• The change from Age to Faith to the Age of Reason.
• The embracing of humans (Humanism).
The answer is it then remain preserved over the centuries. Since a layer of the volcanic ash preserve the art and architecture to the residents, the city of Pompeii then provide a snapshot of the Roman art.Hope this would be of help.
