Read the excerpt from “First Generation” of Dreaming in Cuban. She considers the vagaries of sports, the happenstanc

e of El Líder, a star pitcher in his youth, narrowly missing a baseball career in America. His wicked curveball attracted the major league scouts, and the Washington Senators were interested in signing him but changed their minds. Frustrated, El Líder went home, rested his pitching arm, and started a revolution in the mountains. Read the excerpt from “Like Mexicans. ” We talked for an hour and had apple pie and coffee, slowly. Finally, we got up with Carolyn taking my hand. Slightly embarrassed, I tried to pull away but her grip held me. I let her have her way as she led me down the hallway with her mother right behind me. . . . Carolyn waved again. I looked, back, waving. . . . Her people were like Mexicans, only different. Which best states how the structures of the excerpts are similar? Each relates an anecdote to appeal to the reader’s emotions. Each presents factual evidence to appeal to the reader’s logic. Each documents career credentials to appeal to the reader’s ethics. Each discusses a political event to appeal to the reader’s logic.

In the first excerpt, First generation, and second excerpt, Like Americans, they are both similar because both of them relates an anecdote to appeal to the reader's emotions.

Correct option is A.

"Each relates an anecdote to appeal to the reader's emotions."

They are similar insofar that they use the same tenses, that is the past simple tense, and short clear sentences that tell of a story in the past. The style is simple with few adjectives and not that many clauses or phrases. This kind of a style was made popular by Ernest Hemingway, but others wrote like it too, like the paragraphs here.

ryzh [129]

Answer:

This phenomenon is better explained by mass hysteria

Explanation:

Mass hysteria is a phenomenon whereby false information rapidly permeates among many people in the society or environment as a result of suspicion, rumors and fears caused by environmental, political, or other types of unfortunate incidences. In many instances, whenever there is mass hysteria, there is also a collective illusion about threats that don’t actually exist. The term “mass hysteria”—associated with masses of people—is also known by other names such as group hysteria, collective hysteria, mass psychogenic illness, or collective obsessional behavior.

The author wrote “A Baseball School for Big-League Dreamers"
xeze [42]

Answer:

convince student-athletes to enroll in a specialized school for sports

Explanation:

The text shows how schools specializing in athletes are important in helping student athletes to follow their dreams and not discourage a sports career.

The text shows that there are schools where students spend part time studying regularly and conventionally and part time practicing the sport they want to play and learning to do it professionally.

In this way, the author reinforces the need for student-athletes to seek this type of school that can empower the talent they already have for sports.
