History

Answer: Tolerance is great in non-moral issues. Without tolerance civility would suffer and we would end up in an authoritarian system. We must tolerate in others the views they hold in science, philosophy, religion etc.

Where true morals are at stake tolerance comes to an end. Lying may be very convenient, but it is morally wrong. Of course most of us fall into it from time to time, but we know that such is not acceptable. This holds for all moral issues.
