During the Cold War, the United States supported anti-communist dictators who committed human rights abuses and opposed democrat
gladu [14]

Answer:

In certain times, the actual goal of the United States is countering a certain issue and want to get as much support in this “fight”, even if said support may not stand for the same “ideals” the United States supposedly stands for.

Explanation:

When the country wants to tackle a certain issue (for example, communism), they usually look for support in leaders that want to tackle this issue as well, hoping to get more fuel for this fight, yet they tend to make blind eyes to the other crimes that support may be doing.

Explain what was Martin Luther's problem with indulgences and if you think he was right or wrong.
Sauron [17]

Answer:

Martin Luther essentially believed that the only path to Salvation was a person's personal faith in Christ and not any actions that can be approved by the Church.

Explanation:

In his time, the Church would sell 'Indulgences', pieces of paper given in return for charitable efforts, prayers etc

People would collect these 'indulgences' as a way to collect enough in order to guarantee a path to heaven or get some for loved ones.

It is true, that a lot of this money was used to build grand cathedrals there even developed a black-market for the buying and selling of these.

Martin Luther was completely correct in his stance against this practice.

mart [117]
The USS Panay incident was a Japanese attack on the American gunboat Panay while it was anchored in the Yangtze River outside Nanking (now spelled Nanjing), China on December 12, 1937. Like the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor four years later, Japan and the United States were not at war at the time. The Japanese claimed that they did not see the US flags painted on the deck of the gunboat, apologized, and paid an indemnity. Nevertheless, the attack and the subsequent Allison incident in Nanking caused U.S. opinion to turn against the Japanese. Some extra facts: Date December 12, 1937
