How many solutions does this linear system have? y = y equals StartFraction 2 over 3 EndFraction x plus 2. X 2 6x – 4y = –10 one
nordsb [41]

The system of equations provides a unique solution(one solution) at (-0.6, 1.6).

<h2>Given to us,</h2>
  1. y=\dfrac{2}{3}x+2
  2. 6x-4y=-10

<h3>Equation 2</h3>

As we already have the value of y from equation 1, substitute its value in equation 2,

6x-4y=-10

6x-4(\dfrac{2}{3}x+2)=-10

6x-\dfrac{8}{3}x-8=-10

\dfrac{6x}{1}-\dfrac{8}{3}x=-10+8

\dfrac{6x\times 3}{1\times 3}-\dfrac{8}{3}x=-2

\dfrac{18x-8x}{3}=-2

10x=-6\\

x=\dfrac{-6}{10} \\\\x=-0.6

<h3>Equation 1,</h3>

y=\dfrac{2}{3}x+2

substitute the value of x in equation 1,

y=\dfrac{2}{3}(\dfrac{-6}{10})+2\\\\y = \dfrac{-2}{5}+2\\\\y= \dfrac{-2+10}{5}\\\\y = \dfrac{8}{5}\\\\y=1.6

As we can see the system of equations provides a unique solution(one solution) at (-0.6, 1.6).

Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

y=3x+3

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets say that week weight in ounces is 'y' variable, and the week number is 'x' variable

Lets also remember the equation for a line, y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is an offset (the value the function has when x=0), the slope is obtained from equation (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)

The selected points will be (1,6) as Point 2 and (0,3) as Point 1. We have m=3

And from the point 1 we can also obtain the value for b.

So y=3x+3

PLEASE HELP FAST READ EVERYTHING CORRECTLY ITS ASKING FOR GRAPHING ILL MARK BRIANLIST FOR EVERYTHING!
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

They can`t cross because the slopes are the same.

Since the first equation isn`t simplified, I`ll simplify it.

-x + 4y = -8

4y = x - 8

<u>y = x - 2</u>

After both are simplified, both slopes will be positive 1x. That means the lines are parallel and never cross. I`m sorry if this wasn`t much help, but that is the only answer I can think of. If there is not other option than placing a real answer, than I wouldn`t know how to solve this, sorry.
