11. An airplane flying against the wind travels 140 miles in the same amount of time it would take the same plane to travel 160

Answer:

Plane speed x mph

wind speed 20 mph

against wind x - 20 mph

with wind x + 20 mph

Distance against wind 140

Distance with wind 160

Time = same equate the time against with time with current

t=d/r

140 /(x- 20 )= 160 /(x+ 20 )

140 *(x+ 20 )= 160 *(x- 20 )

140 x + 2800 = 160 x -3200

140 x -160 x = -3200 + -2800

-20 x = -6000

/ -20

x= 300 mph

Answer/Step-by-step explanation:

1. To find the area of the shaded region, you'd find the area of the white rectangular shape, next, find the area of the whole triangular shape, then find the difference of their areas to get the area of the shaded region. Thus, the formula to use would be:

Area of shaded region = area of triangle - area of rectangle

Area of shaded region = ½*base*height - length*width

1. a. Volume of triangular prism = area of triangular base * height of prism

Volume of triangular prism = ½bh * H

Where,

b = 6 m

h = 4 m

H = 8 m

Substitute

Volume of prism = ½*6*4*8

Volume of prism = 96 m³

b. Volume of sphere = ⁴/3πr³

Where,

r = 9 cm

Substitute

Volume = ⁴/3*π*9³

Volume = ⁴/3*π*729

Volume ≈ 3,053.6 cm³ (nearest tenth)

2. Use Pythagorean theorem to find the height of the cone

radius of the cone (r) = ½(16) = 8 cm

Slant height (l) = 11 cm

height (h) = ?

Using Pythagorean theorem, we have:

h = √(l² - r²)

Substitute

h = √(11² - 8²)

h = √(57)

h ≈ 7.5 cm (nearest tenth)

b. Volume of the cone = ⅓πr²h

where,

r = 8 cm

h = 7.5 cm

Volume = ⅓*π*8²*7.5

Volume = 502.7 cm³ (nearest tenth)

storchak [24]

Answer:

∠ PTQ = 70°

Step-by-step explanation:

The angles subtended by the radii and tangents to the circle , sum to 180°

∠ PTQ + 110° = 180° ( subtract 110° from both sides )

∠ PTQ = 70°

Town C is 2 miles east of town A and 2 miles south of Town B as in the figure at right. which of the following is the best estim
Ray Of Light [21]
Since C is 2mi east of A and 2mi south of B, the shortest distance from A to B would be a straight line which is equal to the hypotenuse of a right triangle with a base of 2mi and a height of 2mi..

d^2=x^2+y^2

d^2=2^2+2^2

d^2=4+4

d^2=2*4

d=√(2*4)

d=2√2 mi  (exact)

d≈2.83 mi  (to nearest hundredth of a mile)
