There are different reasons why things happen. Millions of acres of productive farmland became barren desert.

  • There were a lot of ruins for the great Plains farmers during the 1930's.  The Dust Bowl was known to have destroyed many farmers' crops and land on the Plains.

Because off the event, a lot of farmers migrated out of the Plains during the Depression as the weather destroyed almost all the crops. They moved to California so as to find work as day laborers on big farms.
