There is only a single part of the body that is able to get oxygen directly from the air and that is the <u>Cornea</u>.

The cornea is:

  • At the front of the eye.
  • Is clear which allows for the bending of light which is why blood cannot be there as it would mess with this process.

For this reason, the cornea gets no blood and so has to get its oxygen from the air unlike the rest of the body that gets it from blood supply.

In conclusion, the Cornea is the only part of the body that gets oxygen from the air.

Which of th following statements is true about earthquakes along transform plate boundaries?

Gwar [14]

The correct option is (D) |x - 30| < 20.

<h3>What is stratosphere?</h3>

A part of the atmosphere on Earth is called the stratosphere. As you ascend, it is the second layer of the atmosphere.

The stratosphere is immediately followed by the lowest layer, the troposphere. The mesosphere is the stratosphere's superior layer after that.

Calculation for the inequalities given for the stratosphere layer:

According to the question,

The stratosphere is the layer of the Earth's atmosphere that is more

than 10 kilometers (km) and less than 50 km above the Earth's surface.

Consider option D.

|x - 30| < 20

The two cases for the modulus function will be-

Case 1: For positive value of modulus function.

+ (x - 30) < 20

x - 30 < 20

x < 20 + 30

x  < 50; which satisfies the condition the stratosphere is the layer less than 50 km above the Earth's surface.

Case 2: For the negative value of modulus function:

- (x - 30) < 20

- x + 30 < 20

30 - 20 < x

10 < x (or)

x > 10; which satisfies the condition the stratosphere is the layer is more

than 10 kilometers (km) .

Mountains act as major climatic barriers with the sheltered or __________ side receiving less moisture than the exposed side. co
vfiekz [6]

Answer:

Leeward

Explanation:

Mountains can act as a climatic barrier by blocking prevailing winds and trade winds from getting to the other side of the mountain.

The area that faces the winds is called the windward side. This side receives most of the moisture picked up by the winds from the oceans. This is why it is wetter on this side.

The LEEWARD side is a lot drier because the mountain blocks most of it and as the winds climb up the mountain, most of the moisture is well spent and fall on the windward side. By the time the wind gets to the other side of the mountain, they are dried up already. The <u>leeward</u> side is the area that faces away from the wind.

How does water pollution affects marine ecosystems.
Mashutka [201]

Water pollution affects marine ecosystems by completely killing it off. Pollution kills fish, reefs, and other underwater life. With this pollution, animal's behaviors can change, and habitats are destroyed.

I hope this helped, and I hope you pass your assessment!
